Bodega Bay Murder

1/23/06, at 1129 PM, deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s
Department were sent to a report of a shooting in the area of 1500 Bay
Flat Road, Bodega Bay. Arriving deputies found a victim with a gunshot
wound to the head. The victim has been identified as 20 year old,
Manuel Vasquez Santos, of Bodega Bay. Santos was transported to
Memorial Hospital by helicopter where he died from his wound.

to witnesses, the victim and four subjects were driving home from Santa
Rosa to Bodega Bay on Highway 12. In the Sebastopol area a vehicle
began following them very closely. Both vehicles continued to the area
of Eastshore at Bay flat Road in Bodega Bay where Santos’ vehicle
pulled over and the suspect vehicle stopped as well. Santos and some of
his friends got out confronting the other driver. Two subjects got out
of the suspect vehicle, one of them a holding a handgun. The subject
with the handgun fired several rounds at Santos and his friends with
one round striking Santos in the head. The suspects fled in their
vehicle. Santos was taken to the Port of Bodega mobile home park where
they called for help.

The suspect vehicle was described as a
newer, dark green, 2 door, Honda, with tinted rear windows, chrome
wheels, and low profile tires.

The suspect vehicle driver was
described as a white or Hispanic female in her twenties, with straight
black hair and thin, possibly waxed, eyebrows.

The suspect
with the handgun was described as a white or Hispanic male adult, 5’-8”
to 5’-10” tall, with a heavy build and a shaved head, wearing a red

The victim’s vehicle is a dark colored, 4 door, Acura with chrome wheels. 

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene and are investigating this incident.

especially looking for anyone who has information regarding vehicles
matching the description of the suspect vehicle or anyone who may have
seen any portion of this incident.
