My 11-year-old son wants to organize a group of people to light the Hapi for the holidays…

HA HA HA! this is ~wickedly~ hilarious ESPECIALLY since it has been there for EIGHT MONTHS now….at this point, we have christened this the OFFICIAL MASCOT FOR THE MEN OF THE NORTH COAST…representing the values they strive to display on the daily: laziness, mindlessness, impotence, addiction (esp concerning alcohol), selfishness, incompetence, confusion, and general poor taste. but hey, SURF’S UP~

This abandoned boat is awesome. It adds some rustic charm to the bay. It just needs a couple of pirate flags and maybe a pirate dummy or two on board.
I like the idea of lighting it up.

I visited the Hapi via Kayak at high tide on the 4th of October. Quite sad to see her lying there in the weeds.

Sometime last night December 27 2010 Hapi was removed from her resting place and towed to the Marina

Along with four other derelict boats from the marina, Hapi was demolished and hauled off by Cal Recycling.

So sad they removed it. My 3 year old grandson called it his “Vasa” , a ship that sunk in Sweden right after it was launched 300 years ago. We are coming back to Bodega in March and he will be very disappointed. I am not going to tell him they demolished it, I will just tell him it finally sunk under the waves. I thought it added a lot of character to the bay. I guess “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.
