Doggie Diner Founder Dies at 93

Al Ross, a former amateur boxer who founded the now defunct but strangely iconic Doggie Diner restaurant chain, has died.

Mr. Ross, whose ubiquitous hot dog outlets are probably more beloved in the Bay Area for their giant fiberglass dachshund heads than they were for their food, died Wednesday at a care facility in Palm Springs of complications from old age. He was 93.
