California Public Utilities Commission “Empowers Consumers”

California Public Utilities Commission President, Michael Peevey wants to “…empower customers…” by making them pay an initial $75.00 and then $10.00 per month to PG&E to not have a so-called, “SmartMeter.”

Surprisingly enough, Mr. Peevey is the former President of Edison International and Southern California Edison Company.

While it’s probably true that SmartMeters pose no serious health, and some of those who are refusing to use them are whackadoddles, making people pay $195 a year to not have a SmartMeter is hardly “empowering consumers.”

But, going back to the days when the Southern Pacific railroad ran California, the PUC has a long history of not empowering consumers.
